What is this device?

Key elements of GalaxyVend MDB master to USB serial converter
- Power Flexibility: You can power the board with 24VAC, and it will provide the necessary voltage for the MDB peripherals. It also supports a range of 24 to 36VDC and is polarity insensitive.
- Seamless Connectivity: Connect to your host device via USB or MQTT (widely supported by all major programming languages). For MQTT connections, our SaaS backend translates the device’s communication protocol into simple JSON messages. The backend also supports MQTT over WebSockets.
- Simplified Protocol: Our device handles the low-level complexities of the MDB protocol, exposing clean string messages (via USB) or JSON messages (via MQTT).
- Intuitive Control: Simple commands allow you to selectively activate payment systems to receive cash or cashless payments. The returned payment data is clean and intuitive.
- Efficiency: Save time by avoiding the complex aspects of the MDB protocol, such as strict communication timings and 9-bit communication. You only need to understand the transaction flow logic to get started.
- Integrated Design: No need for "Y" cables or external converters; the device features two built-in MDB connectors and an integrated USB-to-serial bridge.
Possible applications
- Rapid Integration: Adding MDB payment support to custom vending machine projects with ease.
- Self-Service & Access Control: By adding the keypress expansion board, you can control up to 10 external circuits. This is ideal for self-service kiosks, access control, or any application requiring external relays.
- Closed-Loop Payments: By adding our proprietary RFID reader (sold separately), you can transform the device into a closed-loop cashless system using MIFARE Classic media (such as employee ID badges or access cards).
